<p>Discover The Health Benefits of Soaking Almonds</p>
<p>Almonds are considered, by nutritionists, to be the healthiest, most nutritious nuts of all.</p>
<p>Almonds are a rich source of protein containing fiber, omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, and zinc.</p>
<p>Almonds are also difficult to digest because of an enzyme inhibiting substance in their brown coating.</p>
<p>The enzyme inhibitor is there to keep the almond more intact until it is ready to sprout into a tree.</p>
<p>For humans, the inability of the nut to release its enzymes interferes with the digestive process makes digestion more difficult, and creating the loss of nutrient value of the almond.</p>
<p>Solution? Soaking <span style="text-decoration: underline;">eliminates</span> the problem.</p>
<p>The key to maintaining the nutrient value is to only use almonds that are raw.</p>
<p>The eating and soaking process are practically useless if the almonds are pasteurized or roasted since both processes destroy the almonds healthy enzymes.</p>
<p><span id="more-237"></span><strong>No Enzymes &#8212; No Digestion!</strong></p>
<p>Unfortunately for us, a recent law requires all almonds grown in the U.S. to be pasteurized.  And yet the USDA still allows these processed almonds to be called raw even though they no longer are.</p>
<p>Don’t be fooled.  The so-called raw almonds found in health food stores are all pasteurized!</p>
<p>The law is weird. Almond farmers can sell raw unpasteurized almonds from roadside stands or mail order but not to food distributors or markets.</p>
<p>Another good source of true raw unpasteurized almonds is imported raw almonds.  You can find them at <a href="http://www.livingnutz.com">www.livingnutz.com</a>, (they are reasonably priced) or Google raw almonds on the Internet and several other sources will show up.</p>
<p>All almonds have the protective brown skin which contains the harmful tannic acid and enzyme inhibitors.</p>
<p>Soaking removes harmful tannic acid and enzyme inhibitors making the nuts easy to digest and releasing their full nutritional value.  Soaking also makes the nut softer and easier to chew.</p>
<p>Always chew nuts thoroughly, whether soaked or not. Big chunks of un-chewed nuts can be hard on the digestive tract.</p>
<p>In addition, all nuts contain phytic acid in their outer layer or bran.  Untreated phytic acid can form insoluble or nearly insoluble compounds with many metal ions, including those of calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc.  These compounds reduce dietary availability.</p>
<p>Soaking decreases the levels of this phytic acid.</p>
<p><em><strong>Procedure:</strong></em></p>
<p>Soak the almonds in cool water and drain the soaked water after 20-40 minutes. Add fresh water and continue the soaking for <span style="text-decoration: underline;">another 8-12 hours</span>.</p>
<p>Be sure the water covers all the almonds.  Cover the bowl with something breathable like a cloth towel and leave the bowl in a warm place (room temperature).  In the morning you can drain the water and eat them.</p>
<p>Eating 6 soaked almonds in the morning is recommended by many nutritionists.  If you have soaked more nuts than six, refrigerate them after draining and drying on a paper towels.</p>
<p>If you want to continue to sprout them, you can.  They make one of the best sprouts.  Being that the almond skin is potentially irritating to the lining of the stomach and intestines, the almonds should be blanched following the soaking.</p>
<p>To blanch almonds:</p>
<ul>
<li>Place the soaked almonds in a saucepan of boiling water for 7 seconds.</li>
<li>Immediately remove from heat and drain.</li>
<li> Cover almonds with cold water to cool.</li>
<li>Press each almond between thumb and forefinger to slip off skin.</li>
<li>Dry almonds on paper towels.</li>
</ul>
<p>You can also try blanching them in hot water from your faucet for 15 – 30 seconds.</p>
<p>The same soaking benefits apply to most nuts with a brown skin, but not to nuts with white skin like macadamias or pine nuts.</p>
<p>Taking the time to soak your almonds before eating is always worth the effort.  So be sure you soak them first to obtain the fully enhanced benefits of this power food.</p>
<p>Get your day off to a roaring start.  Add 6 blanched raw almonds to your oatmeal in the morning.</p>

<p><strong>My friend Harry died Saturday night.</strong></p>
<p>Harry was a gem and loved by many.</p>
<p>Chemotherapy and radiation did him in.</p>
<p>Over a year ago Harry went to his doctor because he wasn’t feeling well.  He was diagnosed with a <strong>brain tumor</strong>.  A team of doctors recommended surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.</p>
<p>Slash &#8212; Burn &#8212; Radiate!</p>
<p>Harry of course didn’t catch a brain tumor, he developed it over the years.  How many?  Hard to tell.  Could have taken ten, twenty, thirty years.</p>
<p>Harry was a sugar-holic, and sugar feeds cancer.  Dr. Otto Warberg won a Nobel prize for this discovery many years ago.  Harry was also not too strict on other foods he ate.</p>
<p>It’s an old story, like so many others Harry got his body chemistry out of whack and so began, for him, the journey to brain cancer.  We know that others taking this same journey may develop breast, colon, prostate, pancreatic or other cancers, but for Harry it was brain cancer.</p>
<p>What’s tragic is that so many Americans have been brain washed by the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Koman Foundation, American Medical Association, the FDA, and other organizations that have sucked up billions of dollars for research to discover the cure for cancer, with no cure in sight from these researchers.</p>
<p>Using fear and marketing ploys such as “run for the cure”, etc. these organizations suck dollars out of the pockets of millions of people to fund research programs that are supposed to find the cure for cancer.</p>
<p>But they lie.  The money mostly goes for their inflated salaries and “make work” days. <span id="more-226"></span>This has been going on for decades and will continue to go on for decades more unless people like us  and stop sending them money.  These organizations will never find the cure, because if they do, it will put them out of business!</p>
<p>Here in the <em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">US the only legal treatment for cancer is slash, burn, and radiate</span></em>.  To do otherwise is a criminal act.</p>
<p>Most doctors treat cancer by attacking the tumor.  Heaven forbid they should look to get rid of the source that developed the tumor in the first place.</p>
<p>They crow success and remission if they eliminate the tumor, never mind that they have poisoned the whole body in doing so, and of course it is not their fault if a few years later the tumor returns or the patient dies.</p>
<p>Not their problem.  They followed the rules as established by the AMA, the FDA and the accepted advice of the pharmaceutical companies who make the incredibly profitable chemotherapy drugs.</p>
<p>So when Harry heard the sage advice of his doctors that his only chance for survival was slash, burn, and radiate, Harry, being one of the millions of Americans who believed in traditional medicine, agreed.</p>
<p>That decision, to agree to traditional medical treatment for his cancer  &#8212; was Harry’s death sentence.</p>
<p>None of Harry’s  medical people ever told him to stop eating sugar as that feeds cancer.</p>
<p>No one ever told Harry he needed to <strong><a href="http://www.antiaginglifeextension.com/water-ionizers/default.asp?p=ghwblog">alkalize his body</a></strong> because cancer cells can’t survive in an alkaline media.</p>
<p>This advice is considered by the medical profession to be “Alternative” and is not in their vocabulary.</p>
<p>Doctors consider it a successful remission if you live two years after their treatment for cancer, and a cure, if you lived 5 years.</p>
<p>That is very sad, as contrary to what most doctors will tell you, there are many permanent cures for cancer other than slash, burn and radiate that will really cure your cancer once you have given your body a chance to heal itself by getting rid of the causes of your cancer and the cancer itself.</p>
<p>A good example is the <strong>hyperthermia treatment</strong>.  Administered under close medical supervision, the body is heated to a temperature of 107° F or higher. Heat kills cancer cells and has no effect on normal cells.</p>
<p>This process has been used all over Europe, particularly in Germany and Austria, and other parts of the world for decades.  There is a clinic in Tijuana, Mexico that has been successfully treating cancer patients for years.</p>
<p>Here in the US the FDA has ruled that hyperthermia is strictly experimental, totally ignoring the years of positive evidence of the successful treating of cancer with hyperthermia, with people living 20, 30 or 40 more years and dying of other causes.</p>
<p>This ruling is a major coup for the pharmaceutical companies, and the slash, burn, and radiate doctors, protecting their billions of dollars in profits each year.  To this day, the regular use of hyperthermia in the US is illegal.</p>
<p>Did you know that <strong>cancer cells <span style="text-decoration: underline;">cannot live</span> in an alkaline media</strong>, nor in an oxygen media?</p>
<p><strong>Intravenous treatments of ozone</strong>, which flood the body with oxygen, have also proven an effective cure for cancer.  There are numerous other effective cures, including nutritional cures.</p>
<p>None of these so called alternative and illegal cures (in the US) just treat the cancer as most US doctors do, they treat the whole body without drugs, surgery, or radiation.</p>
<p>Every single cancer treatment program, other than conventional treatment given in the US, I have ever read or heard about, begins with a heavy flush of the colon to get rid of years of buildup of caked waste that has been emitting toxins for years.</p>
<p>After the colon cleanse, a program of detoxifying the rest of the body to free up the immune system enabling the body to heal itself.  Added to these treatments is a change to mostly, if not all, raw diet, along with nutritional supplements as part of the treatments.</p>
<p>Detoxification and nutrition are integral parts of hyperthermia, ozone, or other treatments.</p>
<p>Western medicine treats happenings in the body as individual events.  If there is a kidney problem, they treat the kidney; a tumor, they treat the tumor; a heart problem, they treat the heart.</p>
<p>The reality is that body is not made up of separate parts.  The body is made up of integrated parts, one dependent on the other, which is why holistic and naturopathic doctors treat the whole body to effect successful healing.</p>
<p>What holistic and naturopathic doctors know is that the source of the problem always starts elsewhere in the body, and to properly heal, you must eliminate the source.</p>
<p>No one has to get a developed disease.</p>
<p>Eat organic healthy food as much as possible, do not drink sodas or power drinks.</p>
<p>Do drink filtered clean water, not bottled water, exercise, and you will never develop a degenerative disease or become overweight.</p>
<p>Hypocrites said, “Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food.”</p>
<p>Good health is not to be found in your doctor’s hands, it is found in your hands.  <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>You</strong></span> make the decisions.</p>
<p>My friend Harry made the wrong choice of treatment, it cost him his life.</p>
<p>You still have a chance.  You can make the right choices.</p>
<p>Good bye Harry.  I cherish my experience in knowing you, and will miss you very much, as will many others.</p>

<p>July 8, 2010 ­ Physicians <span style="text-decoration: underline;">should not prescribe the malaria drug quinine (Qualaquin) for nocturnal leg cramps</span> ­ an off-label use ­ <span style="text-decoration: underline;">because it may result in serious and life-threatening hematologic adverse effects</span>, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today.</p>
<p>Quinine, marketed by AR Scientific, is approved only for uncomplicated malaria caused by the parasite Plasmodium falciparum, according to the agency.</p>
<p>The FDA issued a similar warning in 2006, but the agency noted today that the majority of quinine used in the United States is still for the prevention or treatment of leg cramps.</p>
<p>Quinine therapy may result in thrombocytopenia, which can cause serious bleeding, or hemolytic-uremic syndrome/thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, which may lead to permanent kidney damage. The FDA said that it received 38 reports of serious adverse events associated with quinine between April 2005 and October 1, 2008, in the United States through its Adverse Event Reporting System. Only 1 patient was taking quinine to treat malaria. Two patients died.</p>
<p>Under a risk management plan approved by the agency, the drug&#8217;s manufacturer will issue a letter to prescribers warning of the risk for hematologic reactions to the drug. In addition, patients must be given a medication guide explaining what quinine is and is not approved for, and its potential adverse effects.</p>

<p>Recently we received a copy of an email that has been floating around the Internet for some time now implying that asparagus cures cancer.</p>
<p>The email introduced the origin of the story and several testimonials from people with claims that asparagus did indeed cure their cancer.</p>
<p>Wow!  That simple?  Asparagus?  So I did my research and lo and behold, there is a basis for their claims.</p>
<p>Although there are no valid scientific studies to back up their claims, there is enough nutritional evidence as to the anti-cancer properties of asparagus that one organization has filed for a grant to begin these studies.</p>
<p>And from all I have read with regard to asparagus and cancer, I would encourage you to eat your asparagus if you have cancer or wish to prevent cancer.</p>
<p>The following is a copy of the email article.  Following that is a biochemist’s explanation of why we should include asparagus as part of our protective arsenal.<span id="more-210"></span></p>
<blockquote><p>THE ARTICLE:<br />
Several years ago, I had a man seeking asparagus for a friend who had cancer. He gave me a photocopied copy  of an article, entitled, Asparagus for cancer &#8216;printed in Cancer News Journal, December 1979. I will share it here, just as it was shared with me: I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health or over 50 years. Several years ago, I learned  of the discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. that asparagus might cure cancer. Since then, I have worked  with him on his project We have accumulated a numb of favorable case histories. Here are a few examples:</p>
<p>Case No. 1, A man with an almost hopeless case  of Hodgkin&#8217;s disease (cancer of the lymph glands) who was completely incapacitated. Within 1 year of starting the asparagus therapy, his doctors were unable to detect any signs of cancer, and he was back on a  schedule of strenuous exercise.</p>
<p>Case No. 2, a successful businessman 68 years old who suffered from cancer of the bladder for 16 years. After years of medical treatments, including radiation without improvement, he went on asparagus. Within 3 months, examinations revealed that his bladder tumor had disappeared and that his kidneys were normal.</p>
<p>Case No. 3, a man who had lung cancer. On March 5th 1971, he was put on the operating table where they found lung cancer so widely spread that it was inoperable. The surgeon sewed him up and declared his case hopeless. On April 5th he heard about the Asparagus therapy and immediately started taking it By August, x-ray pictures revealed that all signs of the cancer had disappeared. He is back at his regular business routine.</p>
<p>Case No. 4, a woman who was troubled for a number of years with skin cancer. She finally developed different skin cancers which were diagnosed by the acting specialist as advanced. Within 3 months after starting on asparagus, her skin specialist said that her skin looked fine and no more skin lesions. This woman reported that the asparagus therapy also cured her kidney disease, which started in 1949. She had over 10 operations for kidney stones, and was receiving government disability payments for an inoperable, terminal, kidney condition. She attributes the cure of this kidney trouble entirely to the asparagus.</p>
<p>I was not surprised at this result, as `The elements of materia medica&#8217;, edited in1854 by a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania , stated that asparagus was used as a popular remedy for kidney stones. He even referred to experiments, in 1739, on the power of asparagus in dissolving stones. Note the dates!  We would have other case histories but the medical establishment has interfered with our obtaining some of the records. I am therefore appealing to readers tospread this good news and help us to gather a large number of case histories that will overwhelm the medical skeptics about this unbelievably simple and natural remedy.</p>
<p>For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using, and therefore canned asparagus is just as good as fresh. I have corresponded with the two leading canners of asparagus, Giant and Stokely, and I am satisfied that these brands contain no pesticides or preservatives.</p>
<p>Place the cooked asparagus in a blender and liquefy to make a puree, and store in the refrigerator. Give the patient 4 full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening. Patients usually show some improvement in 2-4 weeks. It can be diluted with water and used as a cold or hot drink.</p>
<p>This suggested dosage is based on present experience, but certainly larger amounts can do no harm and may be needed in some cases. As a biochemist I am convinced of the old saying that `what cures can prevent.&#8217; Based on this theory, my wife and I have been using asparagus puree as a beverage with our meals. We take 2 tablespoons diluted in water to suit our taste with breakfast and with dinner. I take mine hot and my wife prefers hers cold.</p>
<p>For years we have made it a practice to have blood surveys taken as part of our regular checkups. The last blood survey, taken by a medical doctor who specializes in the nutritional approach to health, showed substantial improvements in all categories over the last one, and we can attribute these improvements to nothing but  the asparagus drink.</p>
<p>As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer, and all of the proposed cures. As a result, I am convinced that asparagus fits in better with the latest theories about cancer.</p>
<p>Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth.. For that reason, I believe asparagus can be said to contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer. That accounts for its action on cancer and in acting as a general body tonic. In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a harmless substance. The FDA cannot prevent you from using it and it may do you much good. It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is the highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered one of the body&#8217;s most potent anti-carcinogens and antioxidants.</p></blockquote>
<p>In any case, contrary to the impression given above there are no peer-reviewed medical studies proving that eating asparagus alone &#8220;prevents&#8221; or &#8220;cures&#8221; cancer.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s not to say asparagus offers no cancer-fighting benefits whatsoever — there&#8217;s a good chance it does, given that it contains <a href="http://www.antiaginglifeextension.com/mirimmune/default.asp?p=ghwblog">vitamin D</a>, folic acid, and the antioxidant glutathione, all thought to play some role in lowering risk factors for certain cancers.</p>
<p>By all means, eat your asparagus!</p>
<p>Dietary glutathione intake from food sources such as asparagus has been associated with protection against certain forms of cancer in addition to potent anti-viral properties.</p>
<p>Researchers at the Institute for Cancer Prevention found in preliminary studies that asparagus, the food with the highest glutathione concentration, is a potentially effective means of enhancing the body&#8217;s defense systems and preventing cancer development.</p>
<p>Tests conducted last year indicate that asparagus from Washington contain 70mg/100g of glutathione, a small protein composed of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid and glycine which bind to fat-soluble toxins&#8211;more than twice the amount in any other common food.</p>
<p>The ICP study, led by Dr. Despina Komninou, will provide the basis for a major grant underwriting to the National Institutes of Health.  Clinic trials will determine if asparagus may be the ultimate disease prevention food.</p>
<p>So there you have it, eat your asparagus!  Not getting breast, prostate, colon, skin, or other cancers is the best cure of all!</p>

<p><strong>Warning!  You’re Being Had!</strong></p>
<p>It never ends. You know how bad High Fructose Corn Syrup is and how we have been blindsided by clever marketing into thinking HFCS is a healthy sweetener.</p>
<p>Well once again we are being blindsided by the clever marketing of a new so called “natural” sweetener implying it is a safe substitute for High Fructose Corn Syrup.</p>
<p>Science has <span style="text-decoration: underline;">proven conclusively</span> that <strong>High Fructose Corn Syrup is a major cause of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease because of its 56% high fructose content</strong>.</p>
<p>This new so called “natural” sweetener is from the agave plant.  Ferment it and you have Mexico’s favorite alcoholic beverage &#8212; tequila.</p>
<p>Blue agave, agave “syrup”, or agave “nectar”, is nothing more than a laboratory generated super-condensed fructose syrup devoid of all nutrient value and offering metabolic misfortune.</p>
<p><strong>Agave syrup</strong> is<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> much worse</span> than the High Fructose Corn Syrup it’s replacing.</p>
<p><span id="more-204"></span></p>
<p>It has the highest fructose content of any commercial sweetener &#8212;- 70% to 97% depending on the brand.</p>
<p>Your body burns glucose for energy, not fructose.  Nearly all of the fructose is  broken down by your liver and directly converted to dangerous fats, not energy.</p>
<p>This is why fructose is the leading cause of obesity.</p>
<p>It is important to understand that fructose from fruits and vegetables are a completely different animal.</p>
<p>Natural fructose contains fiber, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, whereas fructose sweeteners have no nutritional value at all.</p>
<p>Here are some more menacing facts about synthetic fructose like HFCS:</p>
<ul>
<li>Fructose elevates your uric acid level.  This is more dangerous than elevated cholesterol levels as it causes chronic low-level inflammation increasing your risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, cancer, arthritis and premature aging.</li>
<li>Fructose “tricks” your body into gaining weight by fooling your metabolism.  It actually impairs your body’s normal appetite-control system.</li>
<li>Excessive fructose decreases HDL, increases LDL levels, elevates triglycerides, elevates blood sugar, and raises your blood pressure.  This is classic metabolic syndrome.</li>
</ul>
<p>Let me be clear that small amounts of fructose are not the problem, it is excess fructose, over 25 grams per day, that is the problem, and the average person consumes at least 70 grams of fructose per day.</p>
<p>Despite manufacturer’s claims, agave syrup is not made from the sap of the agave plant as is maple syrup.  Agave syrup is made from the starch of its pineapple like root bulb.</p>
<p>The root is comprised mainly of starch, similar to corn, and a complex carbohydrate called inulin, which is made up of fructose molecules.</p>
<p>The process in which the starch and inulin are converted into agave syrup it very similar to the way cornstarch is converted to High Fructose Corn Syrup.</p>
<p>The process uses genetically modified enzymes and is chemically intensive involving caustic acids, clarifiers, and filtration chemicals.</p>
<p>Here is a partial list of the chemicals involved:</p>
<ul>
<li>Activated charcoal</li>
<li>Cationic and ionic resins</li>
<li>Sulfuric and/or hydrofluoric acid</li>
<li>Dicalite</li>
<li>Clarimex</li>
<li>Inulin enzymes</li>
<li>Fructozyme</li>
</ul>
<p>The public has been deceived into thinking that agave syrup comes from the pure sap of the agave plant just like maple syrup comes from the sap of the maple tree.</p>
<p>The result of this deception is the strong growth of sales of agave syrup to the public, bakers, and food processors.</p>
<p>This deception needs to be exposed and the purchase of agave syrup by consumers and food companies needs to be stopped or the health of millions of people will go down the drain.</p>
<p>Personally, we too were deceived.  We bought agave syrup thinking it was a safe substitute for maple syrup and other sweeteners as we do not use any products containing High Fructose Corn Syrup.</p>
<p>When we uncovered the fraud, we dumped our agave syrup down the drain, as should you.</p>
<p>We all need to help protect the health of our families, friends, and neighbors.  Pass on this information because when it comes to health, we need to help ourselves.</p>
<p>Don’t look to our government, FDA, USDA, or medical doctors for help.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, the very people who should be helping us, are the very ones who are causing the greatest damage to our health.</p>
<p>You need to take charge of your own health.  Don’t buy products containing High Fructose Corn Syrup and do not buy agave syrups or any products containing agave syrups.</p>
<p>Our only defense is to boycott those food processors as their only goal is to make money and could care less if they poison our bodies along the way.</p>
<p>The only way to beat them is by withholding our dollars.  It catches their attention in a hurry, making them sit up and listen.</p>
<p>For a long time I have been warning you about the dangers to your health of ingesting High Fructose Corn Syrup.</p>
<p>More and more studies have proven the folly of consuming products that contain HFCS to the extent that some of our major food processors are finally paying attention and switching away from HFCS as their sweetener of choice.</p>
<p>Pepsi-Cola being one of them.  But, if they switch to agave syrup, we will be worse off when using their products.  I use Pepsi-Cola as an example but no one should be drinking soda! Period!</p>

<p>Why am I not surprised that another highly popular 3.5 billion dollar drug (bisphosphonnate) turns out to be deleterious to your body.</p>
<p>Two new studies show the bones of some post-menopausal women who take a bone-loss drug like Actonel, Bonive, or Fosamax to ward off osteoporosis, result in hardening of their bones and eventual brittleness with a high risk of fracture of the spine or pelvis.</p>
<p>Researchers are now urging limiting the length of time people take these drugs.  The FDA is now reviewing the long term use of these drugs.</p>
<p>Here we are again spending a fortune on high priced prescription drugs which lead to the eventual  destruction of the very bones they were designed to protect, leaving these users at severe risk for spine and hip fractures.</p>
<p>Why are doctors prescribing these drugs in the first place when they have available a permanent cure for bone loss that is nutritional and only costs pennies a day?</p>
<p>Dr. Melvin Rosenwasser, chief of orthopedic-trauma surgery at Columbia University Medical Center in New York said, “These drugs are good drugs.  They strengthen bone and protect you from fractures <em>for a while</em>. (Italics mine)  But in some people they can become deleterious after a period of time.”</p>
<p>It is difficult for me to understand how a doctor, at his intellectual level, can claim that these expensive drugs are “good drugs” that will protect you from fractures “for a while”.</p>
<p>Whatever happened to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Vitamin D-3, Calcium and Magnesium</span>, which cost pennies a day, to<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> naturally build bone strength and keep them strong for the rest of your life?</span></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span id="more-199"></span><br />

<p>Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said: <em>”Leave your drugs in the chemist’s pot if you can cure your patient with food.”</em></p>
<p>As usual, our FDA gets right on these findings and gives sage advice to protect you.</p>
<p>Here’s a copy of the FDA response to the findings on these limited advantages:</p>
<p>March 11, 2010 — The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced yesterday that patients taking bisphosphonates should continue to do so, barring any recommendation from their physician, as the agency had no evidence to conclude that the drugs increased the risk for femur fractures just below the hip joint.</p>
<p>The FDA advisory came a day after ABC News cited &#8220;mounting evidence&#8221; allegedly showing that long-term use of alendronate (Fosamax, Merck), a popular bisphosphonate, or its generic versions could cause spontaneous femur fractures in some women.</p>
<p>&#8220;At this point, the data that FDA has reviewed have not shown a clear connection between bisphosphonate use and a risk of atypical subtrochanteric femur fractures,&#8221; the FDA stated, adding that it has been working closely with outside experts to investigate the issue. The FDA began their ongoing investigation on this topic in June 2008.  <em>They must have suspected problems at least 2 years ago!</em></p>
<p>The FDA notes that healthcare professionals should follow the recommendations on the drug label when prescribing bisphosphonates, and adverse events potentially associated with bisphosphonates should be reported to MedWatch, the FDA&#8217;s safety information and adverse event reporting program.</p>
<p>This is a typical FDA response to adverse reports against a popular drug.</p>
<p>If people are not dropping like flies, the FDA will not interfere with pharmaceutical profits.  And you can be sure that neither the doctors who have performed these studies nor the FDA will ever recommend something so simple as an inexpensive natural cure that is permanent.</p>
<p>A good dose of vitamin D-3, calcium, and magnesium should do it.  (Get your blood checked for vitamin D-3 &#8212; bet you are deficient.  Most everyone is!)</p>
<p>The FDA is fully aware how deleteriously it would be to the pharmaceutical industry, doctors, and hospitals if people stop buying these drugs and stopped breaking bones.</p>
<p>After all, who is the FDA working for?  You or me?  Not on your life!</p>
<p>The FDA first takes good care of the pharmaceutical companies as that is where most of their money comes from.</p>
<p>Second, the American Medical Association as traditional medical doctors are their main support in pushing the drugs the FDA approves.</p>
<p>There will have to be a lot of hip and spine fractures before the FDA will make drug companies to put a black box on the labels of these drugs.</p>
<p>Do yourself a favor.  Strengthen your bones nutritionally.  It’s cheaper and more effective.</p>

<p>The sun’s rays that shine down upon us are UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays.</p>
<p>But only the <strong>UVB rays are vitamin D producing</strong> when they hit your skin.</p>
<p>Little known is that everyone living north of 35° latitude will get <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">no</span></strong> UVB rays between the months of November through March because of the angle of the sun.</p>
<p>To give you some prospective, New York City, NY is in 40° latitude and Flagstaff, AZ is in 35° latitude.  Fully two/thirds of the U.S and all of Canada are above the 35° latitude mark.</p>
<p>As a further reference, the equator is at 0° latitude and gets the benefit of the highest level of the sun’s UVB rays, whereas the North Pole is at 90° latitude and gets the least benefit.</p>
<p>We do not get the same amount of UVB rays year round. As the seasons change, so does the angle of the sun’s rays.</p>
<p>In the summer, with the sun directly overhead, we get the maximum number of UVB rays.  As the season moves toward winter, we get fewer and fewer rays and in the winter, if you live in 35° latitude and above, you will get no UVB rays at all.</p>
<p><span id="more-194"></span></p>
<p>To make matters even worse, members of the medical profession, on advice of dermatologists, warned of malignant skin cancer from exposure to sun light.</p>
<p>Their advice was to cover up and load up on sun-block when you are in the sun.</p>
<p>For fear of getting skin cancer, most people today stay in the shade, cover up with protective clothing when they are in the sun and coat the exposed parts of their body with sun-block.</p>
<p>This guarantees that no UVB rays will ever penetrate their skin.</p>
<p>Result:  The world is full of sick people due to rampant deficiencies of Vitamin D-3.</p>
<p><strong>Dark and Black Skinned People &#8212;- Pay Attention!</strong></p>
<p>The melanin (color) content in your skin plays an important role in vitamin D deficiency.  The darker your skin, the more melanin content your skin has and the less vitamin D your body will produce with sun exposure.</p>
<p>People with dark or black skin are, therefore, at greater risk.  It is harder for them to produce vitamin D-3 in their skin.</p>
<p>People who have dark or black skin need up to 10 times the amount of sun than light-skinned people need to absorb vitamin D in their skin.  Many scientific studies have shown that black skinned people have staggering rates of vitamin D deficiency which seriously impacts their health.</p>
<p>FACT:  Vitamin D-3 is a hormone and not a vitamin.  It impacts 32 organs in your body as well as tissues and cells.  It also seriously impacts your heart and bones.</p>
<p>FACT:  Science has proven that vitamin D-3 impacts 105 different diseases and conditions of the body.</p>
<p>FACT:  Dermatologist’s warnings against exposing ourselves to the sun led to a huge increase in the use of sun-block.  Skin cancer has increased more than 3 fold since that announcement.</p>

<p>Think of how meat tenderizer works.  You pick up a cheaper cut of beef from your local butcher.  You know it’s tough, so you coat it with meat tenderizer and let it sit.</p>
<p>When you think it is ready, you broil it or whatever, and it is tender as can be.<br />
What happened?  The highly acidic meat tenderizer attacked the tough sinews between the cells tenderizing the beef to the extent that you can cut it with a fork.</p>
<p>The acid tenderizer is so effective, if you left it on the beef long enough, the beef would dissolve and disintegrate.</p>
<p>The same would happen to your organs if the acid from acid forming foods you eat were not neutralized with the minerals magnesium, potassium or calcium, which are alkaline.</p>
<p>One of your body’s highest priorities is to protect your organs from destruction.</p>
<p>If you do not give your body enough alkaline forming foods to provide your body with sufficient neutralizing alkaline minerals, your body will strip the minerals from your bones and muscles in order to protect the organs from destruction.</p>
<p>If the acid content of your body is overwhelming, and your body cannot supply enough minerals to neutralize the acid, your body will then encapsulate the acid molecules in fat cells and keep them encapsulated until it builds up excess alkali.</p>
<p>Only then will your body release and neutralize the excess acid it has been storing to protect itself.  One of the side effects of storing acid in fat cells usually results in weightgain or obese.</p>
<p>Why am I telling you this?</p>
<p>Because the more acid there is in your body, the more magnesium, potassium and calcium your body will need to neutralize all the acid.</p>
<p>You need to know that your body is desperate to neutralize this acid and will take these minerals from anywhere it can get them.</p>
<p>This action is vital to your very existence!</p>
<p>Osteoporosis, which is so common today, is a result of your body stripping minerals from your bones creating holes in them and making them brittle.</p>
<p>Another result could be the softening of your bones called osteomalacia which will dangerously weaken your skeletal structure.</p>
<p>To make matters even worse, fewer minerals would be available for other vitally essential uses in your body as your body’s first priority is neutralizing its excess acid.</p>
<p>A prime example being the need for magnesium to convert the vitamin D-3 into the active form, (1,25D₃), which is the only form of D the body can use.</p>
<p>You cannot make up a magnesium deficiency by taking more vitamin D-3.  If the D-3 is not converted, your body cannot use it.</p>
<p>Here are some of the problems you may encounter if your magnesium level is low:</p>
<p>•    Your body will have trouble converting Vitamin D into the form it can use to create its amazing benefits.<br />
•    Your body won’t be able to produce ATP (cells power engine)<br />
•    Your body will decrease expression of Vitamin D receptors which impairs receptor signaling.  Poor signaling interferes with the normal workings of bodily functions.<br />
•    Your body will limit the use of what calcium and magnesium is available.  Suppress the release of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin, hormones that help regulate the metabolism of calcium and magnesium.<br />
•    Your body will compromise the activity of enzymes that regulate your membrane mineral pumps that are vital in keeping potassium inside the cell and sodium outside the cell as well as performing other functions.<br />
•    Your body needs magnesium for more than 300 enzymatic reactions.<br />
•    Your body loses much needed potassium and calcium via your urine.</p>
<p>That is a long list of nasty happenings, but not a complete one.  These will have long term nasty effects on your health.</p>
<p>Magnesium is an antacid.  You need antacids in your body &#8212;- magnesium, potassium and calcium&#8212;-the kind that come from food, not drugs, to neutralize acid waste.</p>
<p>The more antacids you make available in your diet the less you have to take from your body stores (bones and muscles).</p>
<p>The purple pill, Tums, and other over-the-counter antacids are not the solution!</p>
<p>These are just chemicals that will neutralize the acid in your stomach, disrupt the digestive process and minimize your body’s ability to extract much needed nutrients from the food you eat.</p>

<p>Here’s is what I suggest:</p>
<p>•    Eat lots of fruits and magnesium rich vegetables such as spinach, bok choy, kale, collard greens, and Swiss chard.  Mix them in with your organic salad greens.<br />
•    Have at least one banana a day.<br />
•    Eat a hand full of nuts a day.  Ten to twelve.<br />
•    Minimize eating cheese and especially do not eat processed cheese.<br />
•    Don’t use processed salt.  Use only sea salt.<br />
•    Avoid fast foods, all processed foods, and pasteurized orange, grapefruit and other juices.<br />
•    Eliminate soda and power drinks from your diet and minimize the intake of coffee.<br />
•    Eat only lean meat and or wild fish and free range chicken.<br />
•    Eat as much organic as you can.</p>
<p>Your body is a highly complex marvel of functionality.  It requires you to understand and provide what it needs to keep it functioning at its peak to allow you to live the vibrant healthy life that is available to you, just for the taking.</p>
<p>Don’t be like the average Joe who knows more about, and spends more on, his car then he does his body.</p>
